Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
The speed-accuracy trade-off, a well-established principle from studies of hand movements, has been the focus of research aiming to extend its applicability to full-body movements in sports. This study tested whether this framework also holds in ballistic whole-body actions by manipulating landing precision demands in a vertical jump task. We analyzed changes in motor output parameters and their control mechanisms. Specifically, the time from movement onset to takeoff was divided into two phases, and higher precision demands were associated with a longer preparation phase. Additionally, the magnitude and direction of the 3D velocity vector at takeoff varied with task conditions, indicating modulation of output intensity and directional control. These findings suggest that participants strategically adjust both movement intensity and timing in response to accuracy constraints, revealing adaptive motor control in high-demand whole-body actions.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
