Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This research project, which began at the same time as the pandemic in 2020, developed the archiving and digitalization of over 3,000 pieces of anime's intermediate materials (in terms of sorting numbers) preserved at Niigata University, and quickly achieved the implementation of an online database, allowing each research member to access the database remotely and conduct research specialized for each type of anime's intermediate materials, and this led to elucidating the multi-layered collaborative system in the anime production process and physicochemical mechanisms of the adhesion problem of animation cels. Further, symposiums and exhibitions for this project were held to present case studies of analysis, conservation, and utilization of anime's intermediate materials to society, academia, and the anime industry, and to bulid an international research network with overseas universities.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
