| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では、中国および中華圏の芸能文化を分野横断的に検討を行う。具体的な研究対象として、広東省潮州・台湾の皮影戯・鉄枝木偶戯、北京・河北・東北地域の皮影戯、江南地域の宣巻、および中国・台湾の京劇を取り上げる。以上を通じて、中華圏の地域社会に根ざした芸能文化の実像を立体的把握することが、本研究の最終的な目標である。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study investigates traditional performing arts in the Chinese cultural sphere--specifically in mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong--during the modern and contemporary periods. Focusing on forms such as piyingxi(shadow puppetry), mu'ouxi(glove puppetry), xuanjuan(religious narrative performance), and jingju(Peking opera), the research employed both textual analysis and fieldwork to examine the following four areas:
1.The transmission, circulation, and localization of performing arts in relation to migration and economic activities; 2.The characteristics of performing arts within their regional social contexts, including relevant political and economic conditions; 3.The influence of Western modernity on traditional performing arts; 4.The construction of digital archives for the preservation and study of traditional performing arts.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
中国・台湾では近年、伝統芸能に関する個別の研究が増加し、顕著な成果も上がっている。一方で、研究者の出身地の文化事象であることが出発点となっている研究が多く、緻密な調査を行い、資料を良く収集しているものの、より広い視野から戯曲文化全体を見渡して研究対象を相対化しようという論考は稀であった。
そうした中で本研究は、戯曲文化とその社会的背景を分野横断的に研究し、立体的な描出を行うことで、その一歩先を提示するものとなった。芸能文化を研究対象としながら、より広い視野を持ち得たのは、外国学として中国学を研究している我々ならではのものであり、日本中国学の存在感を大いにアピールすることができたと考える。
