人口減少が続き、コロナ禍と向き合うことを余儀なくされた現在、信仰は次世代へ継承され、宗教集団は維持できるだろうか。仏教・神道の青年宗教者の精力的活動を考察した前科研（「伝統宗教の『次世代教化システム』の継承と創造による地域社会の活性化」（17K02243））を発展させたものとして、他宗教および明治～平成期の歴史的背景を確認することで次世代継承・地域創造の可能性を追究する。具体的には、①宗教青年会・教化団体の歴史研究、②宗教青年会・教化団体の事例調査、③地域に根差す市民団体や越境する人びとの事例調査を行う。最終的に④地域活性化・創造への応用と信仰継承の効果的方法を理論的に検証し再構築する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The principal investigator and co-investigators conducted individual case studies of young religious practitioners affiliated with Buddhism, Shinto, Christianity, new religious movements, and traditional lay religious associations. In addition, joint fieldwork was carried out in Hakodate, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Among these religious youth, multilayered horizontal networks were observed - not only among clergy, but also extending to believers and lay adherents - constituting a foundation for intergenerational continuity in religious activity.In online research seminars, presentations and discussions involving scholars, pastors, Buddhist priests, and Shinto priests revealed how these young practitioners adapted their religious engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing emerging challenges step by step.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
信仰と社会貢献活動の関係などを多面的に聞き取り、コロナ禍以降の宗教青年会の活動の変化を確認し、それを個別報告や全体報告の中で示した。台湾や韓国における宗教青年の活動も観察や聞き取り調査で得た情報をまとめた。それらを通じて、宗教間で共通する若者の課題意識（社会的孤立、自己実現の難しさなど）と、それに宗教がどう応答しているかを明らかにした。成果報告は、研究者だけでなく一般市民も参集する研究報告会を実施した。また、多様な活動を展開する宗教青年とそれを支える信者・檀家の実践にフォーカスし、信仰継承と地域創造における彼・彼女らの果たす役割と現代的意義をブックレットにまとめた。
