| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A container itself do not have holiness in religion. However it is a ingenious device in regarding with the contents. This study focus on the Containers and try to clarify how to make the relationship with holy objects. In order to achieve this purpose our research team understood the religious objects from two perspectives. The one side is container for storing sacred things and the another side is containers offered to the sacred. We conducted a field surveys, analyzes religious objects three sides, (1)purpose and storage (2)shape and contents (3)decoretive form.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
仏教は、汎アジアに亘る信仰の広がりを持つゆえに、その内実には多様な文化との習合があり、複雑な分析を必要とする。本研究は、これを「器」という具体的な切り口から捉えようとする。美術史という具体的な素材を踏まえる本研究の成果は、学問分野を越えて議論される、各地域の仏教信仰の内実とその関係性を知る確かな手がかりになると期待できる。
