We had published an anthology of the history of Soviet ideology related to natural science and trends originating in the Soviet Union (dialectical materialism, the idea of natural transformation), which also looks at the life paths of each actor, including scientists, authorities, and ideologues (“Soviet-kagaku no uraniwa”). A historical overview of the Soviet Union, the country that built the world's first practical nuclear power plant, including the development of its own nuclear reactors and their transfer to Eastern European countries during the Cold War, has also been published as a compact book for the general public (“Soren kakukaihatsu zenshi”). In addition, the members of our project have been studying the current status of nuclear power plants and radioactive waste issues in the former Eastern European countries, which are now attracting renewed attention in terms of energy policy and technological partnerships.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
旧ソ連由来の学知は、もとより欧米先進諸国に対して方法論・社会との関係性においてオルタナティヴな途を目指したものであり、冷戦期のかの国がもった全地球的影響力ともあいまって、独特の方向性・技術的成果をもたらしたものであった。マルクス主義哲学、自然に対する態度、独特の原子力発電技術等は、そのあらわれである。本研究プロジェクトでは、これら各分野における特徴を剔出し、さらには、ソ連の国境を越えての、各国――わが国や中東欧諸国――におけるその影響を、歴史学的手法を用いることによって査定することができたと考えている。
