本研究プロジェクトは、エコクリティシズムの枠組みを採用して現代ロシア・中東欧地域における環境と文化をめぐる諸相を比較文化的・学際的に検討している。文学に環境や社会問題に対する働きかけ、何らかの明白な機能を求める傾向は世界的に強まっており、この時代趨勢に応じた文芸批評としてのエコクリシティズムは存在感を一層増している。本研究は各地域の専門家の共同研究として、英米偏重という従来のエコクリティシズム研究の地域的偏差を是正しつつ、きわめて現代的かつ社会的な要請と国民の関心にこたえるもので、成果論集はスラヴ語圏のほか、英国と日本も踏まえた内容となる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Ecocriticism, which focuses on the interrelationship between the environment and literature, is rapidly expanding both regionally and academically, along with growing awareness of the urgency of environmental issues.
This research project has produced the following outcomes: a panel discussion at an academic conference (March 2022), a symposium (September 2023), and the organization of related lectures by a visiting researcher from the University of Helsinki (September 2023). These outcomes were published in March 2025 as the book “Russian and Central and East European Ecocriticism: Slavic Literature and Environmental Issues” (Suiseisha).
Eco-criticism, which originated in British and American literary criticism, has been noted for its slow progress in Slavic cultures, but this collection of eco-criticism reviews specific to this region is considered groundbreaking even on an international scale.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
環境と文学の相互関係に注目するエコクリティシズムは、文学批評の枠組みとしてアメリカで生まれ、2000年代に入り文化全域に及ぶ批評の枠組みとして急速に拡大した。環境問題の緊急性への認識とともに、地域的にも学問領域的にもいまなお展開し続けている。エコクリティシズムは英米文学批評に起源をもつゆえに、研究の地域的不均衡が目立ち、スラヴ語文化圏において研究の遅滞が指摘されてきたが、本研究が成果としてこの地域に特化したエコクリティシズム批評論集を出版したことは国際的に見ても画期的である。人文学に社会問題に対する働きかけを求める傾向が世界的に強まっている昨今、時代趨勢に応じた社会貢献とも考えられる。
