本研究の目的は、従来欧米主導で行われてきた「比較文学」や「比較研究」理論の再構築を行い、「日本発の比較文学理論」を初めて提示し、 それを一般読書界にも還元する試みを行うことである。近代化の諸問題、文化の翻訳や重訳、比較詩学、東アジア比較文学、異文化理解の倫理 なども含め、独自の知見を集大成することが可能となろう。初学者でも十分に読める理論的ハンドブックの公刊、ウェブ上でも情報発信する予定である。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project aimed to reconstruct the theoretical foundations of “comparative literature” and “comparative studies,” both traditionally developed under Western dominance, by proposing, for the first time, a “theory of comparative literature from Japan” and promoting its establishment as a form of general academic knowledge. (1) The outcome was a comprehensive volume containing 88 key entries, collaboratively authored by numerous scholars, which serves as an unprecedented theoretical and reference resource in the field. (2) To complement the publication, a dedicated website was launched to host expert articles and related materials. In addition, a separate platform was created to provide a “complete bibliography” aligned with the handbook’s contents. (3) A survey was also conducted to examine the current status of comparative literature education at the university and graduate levels in Japan and Korea. The results were compiled into a detailed analytical report.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
比較文学は日本においてすでに70余年の歴史をもつが、これまでその理論的側面が整理されたことはほとんど無かった。比較文学はいまや比較芸術、比較文化論まで裾野が広がり、欧米との関係のみならず、東アジアや西アジアを射程においた新しい研究が陸続とあらわれている。上記ハンドブックはそれを網羅的にカバーし、「日本発の比較文学理論」を初めて提示することができた。それによって、比較文学の現在地点が専門家同士でも広く共有され、多くの書評も出され、韓国語版の翻訳も決定されて、その学術的意義は極めて高いと自負している。またハンドブック／連動特設ウェブはそのまま、大学（院）の授業で使用でき、社会的意義も大変に大きい。
