Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study analyzes Southeast Asian language documents and inscriptions related to Islam, created during the early period of Islamization, particularly in the 16th and 17th centuries. These documents contain heroic tales, historical texts, treatises on governance, mystical poetry, and calendars. The study examines the history of universal history writing, Persian poetic verses on tombstones, and the concepts of God and meditation techniques depicted in historical literature. This analysis has enabled us to discover in greater detail the influence of Persian literature on local languages before the widespread transmission of Arabic texts and the processes of intermingling and transformation between pre-Islamic religious cultures and Islam. It has also highlighted the need to reexamine the history of the formation of early modern states in maritime Southeast Asia, centering on the “Islamization” that arose from its connections with West Asia and South Asia.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
