Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、小学校英語科を担当する教員の自己効力感を測定することに特化した尺度を開発し、その尺度を用いた実態調査を縦断的に行い、教員の自己効力感の向上や低下が、英語科授業の質と児童の英語学習意欲にどのような影響を及ぼすのかを明らかにする。また、教員の自己効力感の変容プロセスと変容に付随する因子の特定を試みる。調査結果をもとに、現職教員と協同で、自己効力感の向上を図る支援プログラムを考案し、アクションリサーチによりその効果を検証する。研究の総括として、早期英語教育の拡充を念頭に置き、小学校教員や専科教員の育成に寄与する教員養成課程のあり方、および現職教員の研修内容・方法について考察する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度は、コロナ禍の影響を考慮しながら以下の課題に取り組んだ。
課題1:本調査(量的データの収集・分析)の実施。具体的には、2022年度に修正を加えた自己効力感尺度、個人の特性および環境要因に関するアンケートを使って、現職教員からデータを収集した。収集したデータは、2022年度に2回収集したデータ、および2024年度に4回収集を予定しているデータと合わせて、共分散構造方程式モデルを使って通時的に分析する。
課題2:本調査(質的データの収集・分析)の実施。具体的には、アクションリサーチによる質的データの収集を量的データの収集と並行して行った。英語の専科教員、非専科教員、およびALTとのカリキュラム策定、児童の学習進捗状況の確認、授業観察、教員との懇談会を行い、データを収集した。2024年度もデータ収集を継続し、量的データとの統合を進めて、自己効力感の変容に影響を与える要因について分析を行う。
課題3:成果発表として、予備調査等により、これまでに収集したデータの分析結果をもとに、自己効力感を高める教員研修の要素についてまとめ、国内外の学会や学術誌等で発表を行った。また、大学の教員養成課程への示唆として、学校教育現場におけるグローバル化の現状(日本以外にルーツを持つ学生や教員の増加)を踏まえ、教師を目指す学生が習得しておくべき知識や技能、また、自己効力感形成過程における教育実習の意義や役割、その問題点などについてまとめ、国際学術誌に発表した。

Reason

2021年度から2022年度は、コロナ禍の影響を受けてデータ収集が制限されたことにより計画に遅れが生じたが、2023年度はその遅れを取り戻し、概ね順調に進展している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

小学校英語教育現場での量的・質的データの収集を継続し、同時に国内外の学会や学術誌での成果発表を積極的に行う。また、現職教員を対象に行われている研修や講演会を通して成果の還元を試みる。
