Outline of Research at the Start

一人一人の特徴(強み)を学習に生かすことで、学習の効果が上がることが分かっている(Fleming &Baume, 2006)。学習者特徴の把握は個別学習支援をするための重要な課題であるが、現状はアンケート調査によるものがほとんどである。
本研究は、学習者の特徴を学習スタイルと学習行動パターン(学習習慣)の融合体であると定義した上で、大規模の学習ログと学習スタイルアンケートの解析より、個々の学習者の特徴を推定し、その学習者の特徴を生かした個別的なデジタル教材を推薦するシステムを開発し、実際の授業におけるシステムの教育効果に関する実証実験を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度には大きく2つの研究を行いました。まず、1つ目はVARK学習スタイルに基づく教材推薦システムの開発です。2つ目は、閲覧ログを活用したe-bookページ遷移の推薦システムの継続開発です。
1.VARK学習スタイルに基づく教材推薦システムを開発しました。このシステムに関する学習効果を評価するため、大学院生を対象に実験を行いました。ラーニング・スタイルと学習ログデータを活用し、それぞれを2つのカテゴリに分類しました。そして、ラーニング・スタイルに基づいた推薦グループ、学習ログデータに基づいた推薦グループ、両方の推薦を同時に利用したグループに分類し、それぞれのグループにおける学生の教育効果を評価しました。読書効率、テスト、アンケートの結果を使用して、事前と事後テストで点数の変動や意見の変化を検証しました。実験した結果、本推薦システム使った学生の平均点が向上していることが示されました。また、結果から、推薦自体が全ての学生に適しているわけではなく、元々事前テストの点数が低い学生には効果があることが示唆されました。アンケートの結果からは、ラーニング・スタイルと学習ログデータを組み合わせた場合が最も効果的であり、特に理解度が向上したと感じる学生が増加していることがわかりました。
2. 前年度の研究を継続し、閲覧ログを活用したe-bookページジャンプの推薦システムを開発しました。今後、実際の授業で使用して評価する予定です。
3.さらに、研究の発展として、eye-tracking技術を用いて、映像教育における注視点と学習成績の関連性を解析しました。簡易な視線追跡アプリを開発し、これを用いて評価実験を行いました。その結果、学生はテキストに比べて画像やアニメーションに強い関心を持っていることが明らかになりました。また、授業に熱心に取り組む生徒ほど効率的に学習できることも示されました。

Reason

学習者のVARK学習スタイルと学習ログに基づく教材推薦システムを開発し、その学習効果も検証しました。さらに、学習ログに基づくページジャンプ推薦システムも継続して開発しました。また、研究の発展として、視線追跡アプリも開発しました。これらの研究成果については、招待講演などで発表しています。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

データ収集の基盤システムを継続的に改善します。開発したシステムを実際の授業で評価し、その評価結果に基づいて教材推薦システムを改善します。さらに、実際の授業でシステムを評価した成果をまとめ、ジャーナルや国際会議で発表する予定です。
