Outline of Research at the Start

水面の表面張力を変化させることで運動する自己駆動体が複数個あるときに観察される集団運動を理論的に解明することによって,集団運動形成の因子が示され,生物が見せる集団運動原理の解明に繋がることが期待できます.
この研究では数理モデリングとその実験検証の相補的研究によって,自己駆動体に現れる集団運動の発現機構およびその形成機構について理論的側面から明らかにすることを目指します.それと同時に,構築した数理モデルに対する数学解析(時間大域的な一意存在性)を行い,数理モデルの数学的正当性を示し,特殊解として数理モデルに現れる並進運動解や振動運動解,集団運動解等の存在およびその安定性を議論します.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research aimed to elucidate the collective motion theoretically observed when multiple self-propelled objects move by changing the surface tension of the water's surface. We constructed a reaction-diffusion-type mathematical model that reproduces the motion of two self-propelled objects on a one-dimensional circular water channel and describes collective motion on a two-dimensional water surface. This made it possible to represent droplets that move while maintaining their circular shape. We also used the singular perturbation method to show that our model approximates existing models of self-propelled motion.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

固体運動と液体運動を従来は別々の方程式系で解析していた問題に対し、単一の数理モデルで両者を統一的に記述可能にした。これは、物理現象のモデリングにおける理論的な統一化を達成した重要な成果となっている.また,自己駆動体運動に関する数学的解析を,状態(固体・液体)によらず単一のモデルで行えるようになったことで、様々な自己駆動現象に対する普遍的な解析枠組みを提供した点でも学術的な意義は大きい.さらに,液滴や固体の集団運動といった複雑な現象についても、このモデルにより統一的な理解と解析が可能になり、集団ダイナミクス研究への新たなアプローチを提供した点で理論的に重要である。
