Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、大規模な銀河サーベイからもたらされる無数の遠方銀河からなる観測データの中でも、これまで宇宙論の研究で用いられてこなかった観測情報、具体的には、銀河固有の形状と分光観測から得られる重力赤方偏移を用いた研究を目指している。これらを宇宙論の情報を有する新奇なシグナルとして活用する手段を開発することで、(1) 従来の手法と組み合わせてより精度が高い宇宙論の検証を行うとともに、(2) 従来では難しかった新しい検証手段を確立、観測へ応用することで、現在標準と思われている宇宙モデルの綻びをあぶり出すことが、本研究の最終ゴールである。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本課題の研究開始3年目にあたる2023年度は、新奇観測プローブを観測へ応用するための実証的な研究と新たな方法論の開発を推し進めた。代表者・樽家は、観測的相対論効果、特に重力的赤方偏移効果によって生じる銀河2点相関関数の双極子非等方性を使って、宇宙論的スケールにおけるアインシュタインの等価原理が検証できることを指摘、その方法論を提案した。さらにフィッシャー解析における見積もりから、将来観測ではパーセントレベルの精度で検証可能なことを明らかにした。この方法論の有効性を巡っては、分担者・西道の協力の下、本経費で雇用中の研究員がリードして作成を進めている、観測的相対論効果を取り入れた模擬銀河カタログを用いて様々な系統的効果の見積もりを行う予定である。さらに、固有形状の新しい測定法を考案し、銀河団の固有形状からも宇宙論を検証できる可能性を明らかにした。

一方、分担者・西道は、宇宙論的N体シミュレーションデータをもとに、将来観測から新たに考案した宇宙論の検証方法をテストするなど、実証的研究を進めた他、すばる望遠鏡の重力レンズサーベイによる宇宙論データ解析にも参画し、3年間蓄積したデータから観測成果を得た。その結果、標準宇宙モデルを特徴づける宇宙論パラメータが、宇宙マイクロ波背景放射(CMB)の観測データから示唆される値と有意にずれることを明らかにし、これまで報告されていた重力レンズ観測とCMB観測におけるパラメータの不一致が実際に起こっていることを見出した。

Reason

前年度の成果を踏まえ、本年度は、理論研究のみならず、実証的研究に向けた準備を進めることができた。理論研究では、代表者等に等価原理検証の方法論と系統的影響まで踏まえたその有効性について、洗いざらい調べることができ、現在作成中の模擬銀河カタログを用いた実証研究を進める土台が築け、今後の方針と研究の道筋を立てることができた。また、分担者らによる、すばる望遠鏡の重力レンズ観測による宇宙論データ解析では、標準宇宙モデルの検証に対して重要な成果が得られただけでなく、本課題で進める分光観測データを用いた固有形状の相関測定に対して、重力レンズ効果とPSF(Point Spread Function)に関する影響についての知見も得られた。雇用中の研究員が主導する研究も進行しており、組織的に本課題が遂行できている。総じて、おおむね順調といえる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

最終年度にあたる次年度は、これまでに得られた成果を実観測データへ活かし、本課題の最終目標である観測的成果へと昇華させる研究を推進する。現在作成中の模擬銀河カタログが年度明け早々に構築できる予定であり、このカタログをもとに、種々の検証、系統的影響の見積もりを踏まえ、観測的相対論効果による銀河相関関数の数値的なモデリングを進める。一方、もうひとつの新規観測プローブである銀河の固有形状に関しても、より強い宇宙論的制限を目指して、模擬銀河カタログを手掛かりに、線形領域を超えたスケールでも適用できる解析的・数値的モデルの構築も同時に進める。年度明けには、米国が主導する最新の銀河サーベイ DESIの初期成果がリリースされる予定であり、公開データを元に、従来より精度のよい新奇観測プローブの測定と宇宙論の検証が可能となる。模擬銀河カタログによる実証研究を踏まえ、迅速に観測データへの応用を進め、宇宙論の成果創出を目指す。
