Outline of Research at the Start

コンパクト連星合体の次に重力波源として期待される超新星爆発からの重力波に着目し、親星の自転と超新星重力波の関係を調べる。自転を含む超新星重力波に関する星震学的立場からの議論はこれまで全くされていない。また、超高密度領域の状態方程式に対する制限は地上実験では不可能であり、超新星爆発など高密度天体を伴う系からの重力波だけが唯一の手がかりとなる。重力波が観測された暁には、逆問題として爆発直前の親星の自転や原始中性子星の状態方程式だけでなく、爆発メカニズムへの制限が可能となる。イベント頻度が低い超新星爆発からの重力波が将来観測された際に主導権が取れるよう万全の体制で備える。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

中性子星や原始中性子星を記述する状態方程式は未だ決まっていない。これは主に中性子星内部の密度が原子核密度よりずっと高いことから、地上実験からはそのような高密度領域の情報を直接検証できないことに由来する。そのため、状態方程式の高密度領域側は中性子星が絡む天体観測から制限をするしかない。一方、低密度側は地上の原子核実験から制限が可能かもしれない。つまり、質量が小さい(中心密度が低い)中性子星は原子核実験と親和性が高いことが期待される。そこで、我々は原子核実験から得られる情報を用いて低質量中性子星の構造を系統的に調べた結果、中性子星の質量や半径を記述する経験則の導出に成功した。これにより、原子核実験の結果を用いて中性子星の質量や半径を直接記述することが可能となり、原子核物理と宇宙物理を結びつけた議論ができるようになった。
一方、中性子星クラストにおけるズレ振動はクラストが弾性体であることに由来した振動モードであるが、強磁場中性子星(マグネター)における巨大フレア現象の減衰過程で観測された準周期的振動を説明するために重要だと考えられている。クラストのズレ振動はズレ弾性率が重要な物理量となるが、これまでの計算ではクラストを構成する原子核のサイズ効果は無視されてきた。そこで、今回、この効果を取り入れた解析を行った結果、100ヘルツ程度のクラスト振動においては、サイズ効果は無視できないということを示した。

Reason

中性子星や原始中性子星を記述する状態方程式は未だ確定していないが、今回、原子核実験から得られる物理量を用いて、直接中性子星の質量や半径の議論ができるようになった。これにより、今後重力波星震学の理解が進めば、重力波振動数を原子核実験から得られる物理量で直接議論できるようになるかもしれない。また、中性子星のクラスト領域における物理に対する制限の可能性も示せた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

有効重力ポテンシャルを用いることで相対論的な効果を取り入れたニュートン重力での数値シミュレーションを行い、その結果を用いて、これまでの超新星重力波の星震学的な解析は行ってきた。しかし、相対性理論のもと数値シミュレーションを行った場合とどの程度結果が違うのかは確認しておくべきことである。そこで、まずは、相対論的な超新星爆発シミュレーションを行い、その上での振動解析をし、これまでの結果との比較を行う。
