Outline of Research at the Start

ひまわり全球輝度データを活用し, データ解析と数値シミュレーションによって, 夜光雲の特性量 (粒径分布, 追跡風速) を推定する手法を開発する. その際, 地上光学観測 (ライダー観測, 分光器観測) による関連データを参照しながら推定手法の検証・評価を通じて科学探究に耐え得る定量的な夜光雲特性量の推定手法を確立していく. そして, 定常的なひまわりデータに準リアルタイムで特性量計算のデータ処理を適用してウェブサイトで情報公開する一連のパイプラインを構築することで, 夜光雲の定量観測を通じて地球温暖化現象の一端である超高層寒冷化を定常監視するシステムを完成させる.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本課題で開発したひまわり 8 号の全球輝度画像データから夜光雲を自動検出する手法をひまわり 9 号の全球輝度画像データに適用した. 8 号と 9 号の夜光雲の検出結果について相互比較を行い, 夜光雲観測における 9 号の性能を評価した. 評価の結果, 9 号による夜光雲観測について大きな問題はなく, 8 号と同等性能の夜光雲観測が可能であることを確認した. これを踏まえ, 9 号による夜光雲の自動観測を開始, 8 号と同様に準リアルタイムで夜光雲検出データを作成し, ウェブページ (http://ttt01.cei.uec.ac.jp/himawari/) で研究者向けのデータを公開している. データアーカイブとしては, 8 号と 9 号の観測データをあわせて, 現在迄に約 8 年分の夜光雲データベースが得られている. 市民サイエンスへの貢献を意識した X (旧 twitter) で夜光雲の観測情報を発信するシステムについても 9 号での運用を開始している. 並行して, 夜光雲解析の高精度化の為に, 大気のレイリー散乱光の LT 変化特性と散乱断面積の散乱角依存性の関係についての調査にも着手している.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

ひまわりによる夜光雲観測の運用継続に関して, ひまわり 8 号からひまわり 9 号への切替えを概ね予定通りに実施し, 現在は 9 号による夜光雲の自動観測を開始している. 準リアルタイムの夜光雲データの公開と X (旧 twitter) による夜光雲の観測情報を発信するシステムの継続的な運用も順調である.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

夜光雲特性量の推定手法の開発を中心に以下の内容を実施する計画である.
(1) 夜光雲 自動検出 - ひまわり 9 号 (2022/12/13-) の観測データに適用する為に開発した自動検出手法を用いて夜光雲の観測を継続する.
(2) 夜光雲 粒径分布 解析 - 解析の高精度化の為に, 大気のレイリー散乱光の LT 変化特性と散乱断面積の散乱角依存性の関係についての調査に取組む.
(3) 夜光雲 追跡風速 解析 - 追跡風速データの検証として, 地上レーダー観測による風速データとの比較に取組む.
(4) 地上光学観測 分光器 - 今後の連携観測に向けて, 小型可視分光器の調整・保守に継続的に取組む.
(5) 地上光学観測 ライダー - 今後の連携観測に向けて, ライダーシステムの調整・保守に継続的に取組む.
