Outline of Research at the Start

地球惑星が形成して以降の地殻とマントルの活動と進化をストロンチウム同位体を鍵として解明に取り組む。その目的のために、微量元素同位体研究において重要な2つの副成分鉱物アパタイトとジルコンの同位体データを、1)イオンマイクロプローブを用いた微細なアパタイト結晶の同位体分析、2)アパタイト、および、それを包有するジルコンのU-Pb年代、酸素・ネオジム・ストロンチウム同位体分析、3)結晶内部及び結晶粒界の解析、それらを統合することにより明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

二次イオン質量分析計によるSr同位体分析のための標準試料選定のための候補試料のキャラクタリゼーションとSr同位体比の精密決定をおこなった。1試料に関して標準試料として取り扱う準備をほぼ完了した。残り5試料について、標準試料としての評価をすすめている。二次イオン質量分析計による高精度Sr同位体分析手法の開発をすすめた。特に、同重体干渉についての評価をおこない、高質量分解能法を応用した分析条件によって有意なデータを取得する見通しが得られた。関連して、アパタイトのU-Pb年代測定法、希土類元素測定法、ハロゲン元素の定量法、また、モナズ石のU-Pb年代測定法と希土類元素測定法の開発をすすめ、分析手法をほぼ確立した。また、天然火成岩・変成岩・堆積岩試料の同位体分析をおこなうための試料準備のため、宇奈月変成帯の試料を用いてアパタイトを効率的に回収する方法を検討した。また、超音波ドリルを用いた薄片からのアパタイト粒子の切り出し実験をおこない、質量分析用の試料作成手順を確立した。
南極ナピア岩体(ハーベイヌナターク)の太古代試料を用いて、高精度Sr同位体分析ならびに希土類元素分析の同時分析をおこない、有意なデータを得た。
一部のデータをJapan Geoscience Union Meeting 2022、10th SCAR Open Science Conference、The 13th Symposium on Polar Sciencesなどで発表した。

分析装置(二次イオン質量分析計)の故障への対応や試料の処理などに時間と手間を要したため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

引き続き以下の3つの枠組みで研究をすすめる。1)高精度Sr同位体分析手法の開発、2)天然火成岩・変成岩・堆積岩試料の同位体分析、3)結晶内部構造・結晶境界面の透過電子顕微鏡解析。
1)に関して、残り5試料について標準試料候補としてのキャラクタリゼーションと評価をおこなう。2)に関して、太古代から顕生代までの様々な時代の試料として、南極(ナピア岩体、レイナー岩体、リュツォ・ホルム岩体)、本邦飛騨変成帯・宇奈月変成帯の試料などを対象にアパタイト包有物とその基礎解析を実施する。ジルコンのU-Pb年代測定、Nd同位体分析、酸素同位体分析、包有されるアパタイトのSr同位体分析、Nd同位体分析などの解析準備と基礎実験をすすめとともに、必要に応じてバルク試料のNd、Sr、酸素同位体の分析をおこない、鉱物微小領域との対照をおこなう。3)について、顕微Ramanを用いてジルコン中に包有されるアパタイト結晶を3次元で捉えて結晶構造の評価をおこなう。必要に応じて透過電子顕微鏡(TEM)を用いてジルコンと包有されるアパタイトの構造と結晶状態の確認をおこなう。
