Outline of Research at the Start

北海道を流れる十勝川水系札内川をフィールドとし,6月に実施されたダムからのフラッシュ放流にあわせて,ハイドロフォンと圧力変動計測装置・Spheraの二つの計測装置を一セットとして三箇所に配置して,フラッシュ放流中の土砂移動量と圧力変動のデータを取得した.このフィールドでは,粗粒化は進行しておらずフラッシュ放流を含めた中小出水でも,一定の土砂移動がおきる.河川管理者が工区設定を行って継続的に河川環境調査を実施しており,人為的攪乱として水路掘削が行われた工区を中心とした調査を行った.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The study focused on small to medium floods, which occur frequently, and significantly influence river morphology. Water flow and sediment transport during these floods were analyzed to understand the impact of floods on river morphology change. To understand how flow and sediment transport affect the river morphology, flow and sediment transport were measured near the riverbed, where the bed shear stress due to water flow and resulting sediment transport were taking place. The results from the field survey confirmed that sediment transport and bed shear stress varied over time at different locations within the river channel network. The reasons for these differences were explored by analyzing the measured river topography and utilizing a numerical model reproducing river morphology change.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

礫河川は,そこをすみかとする動植物にとって欠かせない生息場である.また,川の水の一部が河床を通過することで水質を良好に保つ機能もあり,生き物の生息場としても水利用などの観点でも重要である.このような礫河川特有の機能は,活発な河床変動が継続することによって,礫河原が確保され河床を水が通過できる間隙が確保されることで維持される.河床変動が活発でなくなると,これらの機能が衰える.本研究では,河床変動がどのような場合に不活発となり,どうすれば活発化するかを明らかにすることを狙っている.このような研究の進展は河川管理に役立ち,結果として河川環境の維持・水利用・洪水対策に寄与する.
