近年，SDGs等にみられるように，立場の違いを超えて社会に共通の目標をつくる動きがあるが，このような潮流と既存の社会構造には依然としてギャップがあり，当事者間の対立や分断を却って顕在化させることがある。本研究では，地域のまちづくりの現場において，このような「社会的葛藤」を生み出している価値の構造を理解・記述し，その回避・解決の方途を明らかにすることを目的とする。研究者・実践者がコミュニティの複雑な関係性の中に自らを位置づけ，住民と協働するアクション・リサーチを通じて，アクター・ネットワーク論やエスノグラフィといった人文・社会科学の方法論を援用しながら，価値を「公正」に記述するための方途を探る。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focuses on social conflicts (conflicts and divisions arising from diverse values held by individuals and groups) that arise in community development (corporative management of local resources centered on residents) in an era of diversity. We explores methods to avoid conflict and division and foster value creation by having stakeholders describe their own fields and experiences. Drawing inspiration from descriptive theories in social psychology and cultural anthropology, practitioners in architecture and urban planning developed a unique framework incorporating “multiplicity” and “reflectivity” which was then implemented in the field. We identified the significance of “description within the process,” where researchers and practitioners themselves act as participants in the field, describing and accepting transformation, as opposed to the traditional engineering-oriented approach that prioritizes neutral or result-oriented descriptions.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
地域のまちづくりにおける葛藤は，個人や集団の内的な出来事としてのみ処理されることが一般的であるが，葛藤は本来，多様な価値が交差し新たな価値が創造される機会でもあり，本研究は現場で生起する社会的葛藤やアクターの関係を調停・媒介する当事者・専門家の個人的葛藤の記述と共有を通じて，まちづくりの現場をエンパワーメントする方法論を見出したという点で社会的意義を有する。また，建築・都市計画分野に従来みられた「工学的思考」（「結果」の「一般化」を重視）にもとづく記述のスタイルを乗り越え，現場の個別性，複雑性を許容しながらも共有可能な知のあり方を示すことを構想・提示したという点において学術的意義を有する。
