This research is focused in three main directions: looking back, from an exhaustive study of historical background of the Sama-B ajaus ethnic group and their traditional lifestyle, looking the present transformation until our days, and looking forward drawing lessons from the past for a vision of the future to prepare their future evolution, and to contribute to the knowledge of the Sama-Bajaus ethnic group, that as a human heritage we are obliged to recognize their past, protect them in the present and prepare their future to they can preserve their identity.

2023年には、フィリピンとマレーシアのバジャウの居住地でのフィールドワークが強化されました。
A）セブ市でのアラスカ訪問に加えて、ボホール島のTAGBILARAN、レイテ島のISABELとBATOの3つの新しいバジャウの居住地を訪れました。
B）マレーシアでは、LABUAN市、TAWAU市、SEMPORNA市、PALAU BUM-BUM島、OMADAL島のバジャウの居住地を訪れました。バジャウの居住地に加えて、PALAU KETAM、コタキナバル、バンダルセリベガワンでの浮遊する居住地も訪れました。調査によると、マレーシアで訪れたバジャウの大半はフィリピン南部から来ているか、家族のルーツがそこにあるという結果が出ました。彼らのマレーシアの現代社会への統合は、フィリピン社会への統合よりも優れています。それでも、マレーシアでは、ほとんど現代社会との接触がない純粋で独自のバジャウ社会の生活様式を見つけることができます。
