Outline of Research at the Start

不溶性プロアントシアニジン（iProA; insoluble pro-antocyanidin）は主に木本作物が蓄積する２次代謝物質である。その合成機構は不明であり、生理機能はほとんど解明されていない。
これまでに研究代表者らは、草本作物の中では例外的にソバ属植物がiProAを大量に蓄積し、虫害抵抗性・病害抵抗性・穂発芽抵抗性等の強化に関係することを明らかにしてきた。
本研究では、iProAの最終合成ステップを欠損した突然変異体を用いiProAの最終合成酵素タンパク質および遺伝子を単離し、iProAの蓄積器官・組織局在性等の生理学的な知見を獲得する。
