Outline of Research at the Start	従来、異なる連結タイプのユビキチン鎖は各々別個に機能すると考えられてきたが、近年、ユビキチン鎖が「枝分かれ」した分岐型ユビキチン鎖が細胞内に豊富に存在することが明らかとなってきた。しかし分岐型ユビキチン鎖がどのような基質を標的とし、どのように形成・解読され、細胞機能をどのように制御しているのか、大部分が未知である。申請者はごく最近、分岐型ユビキチン鎖を形成する新規の酵素群を見出した。本研究は、分岐型ユビキチン鎖の基質、形成と解読のメカニズム、細胞内シグナル伝達への寄与を明らかにし、ユビキチン鎖の分岐によって創成される「分岐型ユビキチンコード」の新機能を解明する。
