BeatII-SideIVの膜タンパク質ペアがシナプス誘導機能を有していることが分かり、さらにそれらがKirreという共受容体とRhoGAP100F(足場タンパク)を介して、シナプス形成が始まる機構を解明した。この成果は、Cell Reports誌に報告した(Osaka et al., Cell Reports, 2024)。Beat-Sideファミリーは、それぞれ特異的なペアで結合し、神経細胞同士の「好き嫌い」を決めているのではないかという「Beat-Sideワールド」が存在しているかもしれない。現在、キメラ受容体の過剰発現をベースにしたスクリーニングをおこなっている。
