Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の基盤となる問いは、脊椎動物の脳の進化過程において脳サイズの増加を駆動した機能的要因は何か、である。海鳥をモデルに「移動に関わる認知能力の必要性が脳サイズの増加を促進した」という仮説を検証することを目的とする。脳形態と移動パターンを種間および種内で比較し、脳サイズと移動生態の進化的な繋がりを明らかにすることを目指す。
