Outline of Research at the Start

福島県を中心に、福島第一原発周辺の河川下流および沿岸を対象として、河川水、沿岸水、沖合海水や海産生物の採取を行う。
得られた試料を基に、
(1)沿岸での汚染懸濁粒子の影響範囲の特定(エリアの特定)
(2)河川から沿岸への汚染懸濁粒子の移行量把握(総量の把握)
(3)食物連鎖によるCs移行量(モデルによる推定)を行う

Outline of Final Research Achievements

For the identification of the sea area contaminated suspended particles, river water and seawater samples were collected in Fukushima Prefecture. We clarified the relationship between contaminated suspended particles and factors, time-series changes, river conditions, and diffusion trend. The amount of Cs released from the river and the number of contaminated particles migrating from the river to the coast were estimated through the chemical composition of the particles, desorption processes, and river flow rates. For the model analysis of contaminated suspended particle transport in the food chain, zooplankton and benthic organisms were collected in the coastal water and measured.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

成果検証を通して、福島沿岸のCs動態に対する汚染懸濁粒子の作用機序を解明し、環境レベルの事故前への復帰を検証することは、海洋の放射性核種や生態系の浄化機序の解明に事故後一貫して携わってきた申請者らの科学者としての責務である。得られた成果を学術界や社会へと積極的に還元した。それにより、福島の沿岸の放射能による影響の現状が広く一般に認知することになり、福島の原子力災害からの再興に大きく貢献した。
