地球を健全に維持することは現在の世界的な課題である。それを検討するためには、色々な条件下での「人と自然が構成する一つのシステム」の構造と機能を解明・比較し、それらのシステムで「人と自然の『共生』」が成り立つにはどのように人間が活動するかを考えることが重要と考えられる。本研究では、フィジー沿岸村の漁業活動からみた沿岸域物質循環を「人と自然が構成する一つのシステム」と捉え、その構造と機能を社会・経済・自然を融合させた学融的(河合 2015)な視点から時空間的に研究する。そして、「人と自然の『共』」の在り方を議論する。この成果は現在の世界が目指しているSDGs達成にもつながる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to examine new sustainable resource use on the islands, this study examines the current socioeconomic conditions and the natural environment surrounding the villages in Fijian coastal villages in the South Pacific, and aims to clarify the changes that have occurred in recent years.
Mangrove forests and tidal flats have formed on the foreshore of each village, providing a habitat for many organisms, and the mangrove and tidal flat purification system functions to maintain an environment that can support many organisms. In the villages, human waste is discharged near residences and domestic wastewater is discharged directly into the sea, and these ecosystems play a major role in the purification of this waste water. The mangrove forests and tidal flats on the foreshore are not only important for the food supply of the village, but are also very important for sustainable resource use.

本研究は太平洋島嶼国フィジーの村において、クローバル世界での様々な影響が人と自然にどのような影響を与えているかを村落での調査で明らかにしている。本調査は村々の現状を明らかにしているため、各報告書を村に提出しているため各村での政策立案に大きく貢献をしている。また将来の島嶼の持続的開発の議論に大きく貢献している。例えば、理論的発展への貢献があげられる。
