Outline of Research at the Start

年輪年代法は、木材の暦年代を1年のズレもなく正確に決定できるため、他の年代測定法よりも精度の点で優れている。しかし、木材の年輪数が少ない場合、年代が定まらないという問題がある。遺跡から出土する多数の木材は年輪数が50年に満たないため、これらの年輪年代を決定できれば飛躍的に分析対象が広がる。本研究では、1）年輪数の少ない考古材の年代決定のための年層内同位体比データの収集、および、2）現生木を用いた年層内変動メカニズムの基礎的研究を行い、3）以上の成果を統合して年層内分析による年代決定法を確立する。以上のデータを用いて、気温と降水量の同時復元にも挑戦する。
