Outline of Research at the Start

知覚情報統合における神経同期の機能を説明するモデルを構築する。各個人の平常時の神経同期周波数や位相のばらつきが事前確率と関係しており、注意・認知負荷や周波数引き込みによる神経同期の変動が尤度と関係すると仮定し、知覚課題成績として測定される事後確率との関係を表現できる。事前確率に関係する要素、注意・認知負荷に関係する比較的持続的な変動の要素、周波数引き込みによる動的で周期的な変動の要素、それらの相互作用の情報に基づき、ベイズ的情報統合モデルを作成する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

知覚情報処理に関する大脳皮質の神経同期の機能を明らかにすることを目指して研究を遂行した。特に、神経同期の比較的持続的な機能と動的で周期的な変動の機能の2つの側面に着目し、低次から高次の脳領域へと知覚情報処理が進む流れの中で、各脳領域の神経同期の周波数や位相がいかに関わるかを心理物理測定や脳波測定を用いて検証した。

無意識的な時間知覚に関して、従来のモデルで使われてきた線形モデルが不適切であることを示し、新たな非線形モデルを提案した。また、高齢者と青年成人の知覚情報処理の違いに着目し、その差をベイズモデルの枠組みで説明することに成功した。脳波を用いて神経同期を計測した実験では、刺激の明滅により神経の同期的活動が刺激の時間周波数に引き込まれることや、神経引込みが知覚のノイズを減らすことを明らかにした。さらに、最尤推定を用いて、時間情報と数情報の統合における重み付けが情報の信頼度に依存して変化することを明らかにした。さらに、触覚刺激を時間変調させるデバイスを研究室内で制作し、指先にさまざまな周波数で刺激をあたえ、その知覚を触覚と視覚で比較する実験を進めている。また、刺激を繰り返し知覚することにより、ベイズ統計の枠組みにおける事前分布がどのように変容するかを検証する実験や、加齢が情報の抑制や統合に及ぼす効果を検証する実験を進めている。これらの研究を国内会議や国際会議で発表し、査読付き国際学術誌に掲載した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでは視覚や聴覚に関する神経機序を中心に研究を進めてきたが、そこで得られた知見を利用して触覚も研究対象として展開する。そして、感覚モダリティ間の比較や相互作用を検証する。
