| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では、社会的動機付けの基盤となる認知機構である（１）社会的探究・嗜好、及び（２）社会関係の維持、の２者について、まず定型発達及びASD成人を対象としたPET（ドパミン系）および1H-MRS（グルタミン酸、GABA）計測による分子機序、fMRIと行動計測による脳神経基盤・認知基盤、さらに実験参加者の質問紙への回答の定量的分析や発話記録による主観経験についての質的分析を行う（研究１）。並行して、児童・思春期（10－16歳）の定型発達児、ASD児を対象として、（１）社会的探究・嗜好、及び（２）社会関係の維持、のそれぞれについての横断的な発達研究を行う（研究２）。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed a series of research methods to quantify social motivation and more general motivation, which helped us identify motivational characteristics of autistic people. We also conducted a series of questionnaire surveys and interview studies on the subjective experiences of social environment in autistic people, which helped us identify the strategies that autistic people use to adapt to the social environment, their subjective experiences regarding these strategies, and even examples of difficulties in adapting. In addition, we reported preliminary results on the molecular mechanisms behind these social and general motivations, enabling the development of future research.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
自閉スペクトラム当事者の社会適応の困難さの背景には、社会的動機付けの困難さがあると議論されている。本研究では、この議論に理論的・実証的な貢献を行うため、一連の実験研究・調査研究・理論研究を行なった。これらの結果からは、自閉スペクトラム当事者が社会参画を希望するものの、現実社会の様々な側面において困難さを抱えることが確認された。
