Outline of Research at the Start

電子相関の強い典型的な非従来型超伝導体であるSr2RuO4は、その常伝導状態が詳細まで理解できる一方、超伝導状態は発見から30年近く経過しても未解明である。現在有力とされるスピン一重項カイラルd波状態では、層状物質なのに同じ面内で運動する電子間の対ができないという深刻な矛盾がある。この問題の最終的解決に向け、本課題では異方性圧力効果や磁気共鳴などを用いた研究を進める。そして、スピン対称性とパリティ(空間反転対称性)に加えて、新たに軌道間電子対の対称性も考慮した「スピン三重項・偶パリティ・軌道間一重項状態」を軸に説明できるのかどうかを判定する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Sr2RuO4の超伝導の最近の顕著な研究展開を横断的・詳細に分析するJPSJの招待レヴュー論文とNature Phys.誌のInvited 記事の執筆を進めた.これらから鮮明になった重要課題の解決に直結する成果を得るべく,テーマの一部を見直した.国際共同研究では、磁場侵入長から超伝導ギャップのラインノードを検証した.常伝導状態について電子エネルギー損失分光(EELS)で,特異なバンド間電子励起モード「パインズの悪魔」の観測に成功した.
●1.ひずみ印加で誘起される超伝導の変化:一軸圧で超伝導転移温度Tcが倍増するデータが再現できた.低周波数での相互インダクタンス法に切り替えることで,磁場中でも非常に高い測定精度を得た.一軸圧や静水圧でのTc変化と超音波音速のとびとの矛盾の解明に向けて,従来の圧縮ひずみに加え,新たにせん断ひずみでのTc変化の測定を相互インダクタンス法で進めた.
●2.時間反転対称性破れの検証: 一軸圧下でのミュオンスピン共鳴が示す超伝導の2段転移を検証する研究を進めた.まず,一軸圧下での核磁気共鳴から,超伝導ギャップ構造の変化を調べた.また,時間反転対称性の破れを直接検出する磁気光学カー効果(MOKE)の装置整備を進めた.これに関連し,物性測定システムの試料回転装置の修理を行った.さらに,準粒子トンネル効果から時間反転対称性破れを検出する共同研究を進めた.なお,「パインズの悪魔」の一軸圧下での変化をイリノイ大学で観測するためのセルを京都大学で完成させ,低温での動作テストを進めた.
●3.磁気共鳴による超伝導対称性の研究: 申請していたスイスのPSIでの実験が認められたので,ミュオンスピン共鳴によるナイトシフト測定を現地で行った.スピン三重項・軌道間一重項の「擬スピン一重項状態」と,伝統的な非従来型超伝導状態の「スピン一重項」との実験的判別を目指して解析を進めた.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

■招待レヴュー論文や解説記事の執筆により,最近の研究展開を詳しく吟味して,現在の問題点を鮮明にすることで,本課題で遂行すべき研究テーマに反映することができた.

■一軸圧で超伝導転移温度Tcが倍増するデータが再現できた.しかし,高周波での自己インダクタンス法では,試料の高導電性のために常伝導遮蔽長が超伝導ロンドン侵入深さと同程度で超伝導転移温度の精密データ獲得が困難であった.そこで低周波数での相互インダクタンス法に切り替えることで,磁場中でも非常に高い測定精度が得られるようになった.

■核磁気共鳴での実験は予定よりやや遅れているが,ミュオンスピン共鳴によるナイトシフト測定を進めることができた.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究は以下の3つのテーマを軸に遂行し,3年間の研究成果の取りまとめも行う.
●1.ひずみ印加で誘起される超伝導の変化: 一軸圧印加での上部臨界磁場の面内異方性測定から,リフシッツ転移での超伝導状態の変化を明らかにする.一軸圧や静水圧でのTcの変化と超音波音速のとびとの熱力学関係式上の矛盾を解明するため,従来の圧縮ひずみだけでなく,新たにせん断ひずみによる超伝導性の変化を精密に測定する.
●2.時間反転対称性破れの検証: 一軸圧下でのミュオンスピン共鳴が示すTcより低温での時間反転対称性が破れた超伝導相への転移を検証する.まず,一軸圧下でのRu核の核四重極共鳴(NQR)の超伝導転移近傍での磁気緩和率1/T1の変化から,常伝導状態の電子状態密度の変化や超伝導ギャップ構造の変化の有無を調べる.また,時間反転対称性の破れを直接検出する磁気光学カー効果(MOKE)測定を進める.さらに,準粒子トンネル効果により,時間反転対称性破れに伴って発生するゼロバイアス・コンダクタンスピークの一軸圧下での変化を柏谷(研究協力者)らとの共同研究から明らかにする.
●3.磁気共鳴による超伝導対称性の研究:磁場中でのミュオンスピン共鳴によるナイトシフトの第2回目の実験を6月に行い,従来の核磁気共鳴・スピン偏極中性子回折に加えて第3の超伝導スピン状態判定手法の有効性を示す.特にスピン三重項・軌道間一重項の「擬スピン一重項状態」と,伝統的な非従来型超伝導状態の「スピン一重項」との実験的判別を狙う.
◆2024年度は,日本物理学会とドイツでの国際会議で成果を発表するとともに,研究の取りまとめとして,J. Phys. Soc. JpnにSr2RuO4の研究の現状を網羅した招待レヴュー論文と,Nature Physics誌から依頼されたInvited Perspective記事の掲載にこぎつける.
