Outline of Research at the Start

電子相関の強い典型的な非従来型超伝導体であるSr2RuO4は、その常伝導状態が詳細まで理解できる一方、超伝導状態は発見から30年近く経過しても未解明である。現在有力とされるスピン一重項カイラルd波状態では、層状物質なのに同じ面内で運動する電子間の対ができないという深刻な矛盾がある。この問題の最終的解決に向け、本課題では異方性圧力効果や磁気共鳴などを用いた研究を進める。そして、スピン対称性とパリティ(空間反転対称性)に加えて、新たに軌道間電子対の対称性も考慮した「スピン三重項・偶パリティ・軌道間一重項状態」を軸に説明できるのかどうかを判定する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

これまで30年間にわたるSr2RuO4の超伝導研究のレヴュー論文を出版し(J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 93, 062001-1-45(May 2024)),JPS Hot Topics論文ビデオも制作され,日本物理学会誌「最近の注目論文」でも紹介された.
●1.Sr2RuO4の実験結果間の矛盾点の鮮明化とせん断ひずみ実験の遂行:本課題の最終目的であるSr2RuO4の超伝導状態の完全決定に向けて,2次元秩序変数の根拠である超音波・ミュオンスピン緩和と,一軸圧や静水圧・比熱との間で,熱力学関係式適用上の矛盾が決定的になった.この状況をNature Physics誌からの招待解説論文として発表した(Nat. Phys. 20, 1712-1718 (2024)).本課題では,超音波との直接的比較ができるせん断ひずみ印加の実験を新たに遂行し,超音波と相いれない結果を得た.つまり単に秩序変数の次元性判定問題ではなく,そもそも超音波音速の飛びが超伝導転移温度と単純には結び付いていないことになる.この成果を論文執筆中である,
●2.時間反転対称性破れによる超伝導2段転移の検証: 一軸圧下でのミュオンスピン緩和について,新たな結晶を用いて再実験した結果,2段転移を再現した.
●3.磁気共鳴による超伝導対称性の研究: 超伝導体のスピン状態の決定には,核磁気共鳴(NMR)の手法が有効だが,Sr2RuO4の高い導電性からパルス過熱の問題があり,相補的手法も必要となっていた.そこで新たにミュオンスピン共鳴から決定する方法に挑み,パウル・シェラー研究所(PSI)での2023年度と本年度の2回の実験を提案して現地参加した.直流磁化測定と組み合わせてスピン磁化率を高精度で導出できる新手法を実証し,スピン一重項的な振る舞いを得て,論文執筆が終わって投稿する準備が整った段階にある.
