Outline of Research at the Start

新しいタイプの相転移である電気トロイダル秩序を示す候補物質であるイリジウム酸化物Ca5Ir3O12の研究を行う。電気トロイダル秩序は原子スケールの配向自由度および回転自由度の秩序として理解されている。イリジウム酸化物Ca5Ir3O12の電気トロイダル秩序の微視的な機構解明を,放射光による構造解析,共鳴X線散乱および Irメスバウアー分光により行う。また,本対象物質において新たに見出した電流誘起による輸送特性の変化の解明のため,電流印加による歪み・磁化応答, 結晶構造及び電子構造の変化を放射光実験等により実証するとともに,第一原理計算を用いた構造及び電子状態の微視的な機構解明を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

テーマA 逐次相転移の微視的自由度の解明
松平と筒井は,KEK-PFのBL3Aにおいて,共鳴X線散乱で強的な多極子による磁気秩序を検出するために基本反射の偏光解析実験を試みた。観測が期待された信号強度は検出限界以下であった。網塚は,単結晶試料において磁気転移の試料依存性を調べた。中村は長谷川とともにCa5Ir3O12の常温常圧下での絶縁体の起源を探るため、実験で特定されている超格子構造 (対称性 R3) に対する第一原理スピン密度汎関数計算を実行した。オンサイトクーロン反発 U =2.5 eV を導入することによりバンドギャップが形成されることが分かった。本課題遂行のために改良を行ったRESPACKを用いて光学伝導度の計算を行い、実験との比較を行ったところ、まずまずの定性的一致を得た。速水は電気トロイダル双極子秩序状態に対する模型解析を行うことで、格子構造の回転歪みと電子自由度の関連性を微視的に明らかにした。また、電気トロイダル双極子秩序下で生じる磁気異方性を明らかにした。
テーマB 電流誘起交差相関現象の解明
電流誘起の抵抗履歴現象と異方的格子歪の2つの論文が公表された。電流誘起の異方的格子歪の起源がピエゾ効果ではないことが対称性の議論から明らかになった。長谷川は電流印加下でのラマン散乱にて端子付け方法の改良を行い、新たにCaとIrの振動モードの電流印加下での観測に成功した。ラマンスペクトルのストークス・アンチストークス比は熱力学的に温度で決定されるが、Ca5Ir3O12では特定の酸素の振動モードのみこの比が大きくずれることが発見された。この現象はこれまでに報告の無い新規現象であり、その原因はCa5Ir3O12に特有の物理と密接な関係があると考えられる。山地はCaイオンの伝導とエフロス-シャクロフスキーの可変長ホッピングを取り入れた非平衡輸送の現象論を構築した。

テーマA 逐次相転移の微視的自由度の解明
これまでの多くの実験結果から可能な磁気秩序パラメータを絞り込んだ。その観測に向けた実験を次年度に計画した。
テーマB 電流誘起交差相関現象の解明
電流誘起の異方的格子歪の微視的なメカニズム解明に向けたアプローチに進んでいる。あらたにラマンスペクトルのストークス・アンチストークス比に関する新しい現象を見出している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

テーマA 逐次相転移の微視的自由度の解明
磁気秩序相の秩序変数の直接観測を目指して、Ir L端を利用した磁気円2色性(MCD)の実験を実施する。
また,電気トロイダル双極子秩序を実験的に観測するための新しい方法を理論提案する。特に電気トロイダル双極子秩序に特有の非線形光学応答を理論提案することで、新たな観測手法を開拓する。
テーマB 電流誘起交差相関現象の解明
ラマン散乱で新たに観測されたストークス・アンチストークス比の異常について、温度・励起波長依存性の測定を行い電気トロイダル相との関係や共鳴効果の有無を明らかにし、この異常の原因解明を目指す。得られた現象論モデルによるCa3Ir5O12の実験データ解析を九工大のメンバーとともに進めて論文にまとめる。
