Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、『宇宙にどのような有機物がどこでどのように生まれ、我々の身近な有機物とどのように関連するか』という問いに答えるべく、終焉期の恒星が生み出す有機物の性質を理解し、太陽系の始原的有機物との関連を探ることを、解決すべき目標と設定する。本研究では、老朽化した模擬星間有機物の塵を合成する実験装置を新たに改良製作し、合成した有機物の分析実験を行うともに、赤外線時間軸天文学観測への展開を図る。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research aims to understand the properties of organic dust formed by mass loss activity of stars in the final stages of evolution. The study is conducted using a combination of infrared astronomical observations and laboratory astrophysics.
Due to the aging of the apparatus previously in use (originally developed in the 1970s by Dr. Akira Sakata and colleagues at the University of Electro-Communications), a new experimental apparatus has been constructed in this research. This apparatus synthesizes organic dust by condensing plasma generated using 2.45 GHz microwaves, following the same basic methodology as before, with an upgrading capabilities for analyzing the components of the plasma.
With this new system, it is now possible to investigate which specific dust formation conditions in actual cosmic environments correspond to those simulated by the laboratory-produced organic dust, enabling more accurate and quantitative experimental modeling of astrophysical processes.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は1970年代に電気通信大学の坂田朗氏らが組み上げた星間塵合成装置を用いた有機物の合成実験を発展させたものであり、これまでに窒素を含有する有機物である急冷窒素含有炭素質物質(QNCC; Endo et al. 2021)の合成を行い、新星爆発の際にできる有機物の塵や、炭素質隕石物質から抽出される不溶性有機物との類似性を議論した。本研究では、現有の星間塵合成装置の老朽化に伴い、生成するプラズマの分析機能を追加した新規の星間有機物塵合成装置の製作を行った。これにより、赤外線観測天文学や時間軸天文学の観測がもたらす観測結果と比較可能な有機物の塵の実験室データベースの構築の準備が整った。
