Outline of Research at the Start

電波帯域でミリ秒だけ光る新しい突発天体、高速電波バースト(FRB)は観測研究が飛躍的に進んでいるものの、その起源は依然として未解明である。ただし、その中で繰り返しバーストするリピーターは、中性子星が有力な候補である。実際、我々の銀河系内の中性子星からも明るい電波バーストである巨大電波パルス(GRP)とマグネター電波バースト(MRB)が検出されている。系内の電波バーストはその距離の近さからFRBよリも得られる情報が圧倒的に多い。そこで本研究では、FRB、GRP、MRBに対する電波を主とする多波長観測と、中性子星磁気圏の数値シミュレーションにより、電波バースト発生機構とFRBの起源の解明を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高速電波バースト(FRB)の起源は依然として未解明である。本研究では、FRB、巨大電波パルス、マグネター電波バーストの長期電波観測とその比較研究によりこれら3つの関係の有無を明らかにし、また得られた観測的制限に基づいて中性子星磁気圏の数値シミュレーションを実行することで、中性子星磁気圏の物理の枠組みに基づいてFRBの起源の解明を目指した。本年度の研究実績は以下である。
1. 臼田64mの観測システム用にS帯周波数変換器を製作し、取り付け工事と性能試験を行い機能を確認した。飯舘電波望遠鏡では現行より広帯域高感度での観測を実現する新型アンテナフィードの開発を進めた。また、日立望遠鏡では短時間で解析が可能な PC の導入作業を進めた。
2. X線観測では、NICER X線望遠鏡を中心に特に FRB とマグネターの関係性の観点でX線観測と解析により研究を進めた。可視光観測ではリピーターFRBの可視光高速撮像データを解析し、可視光放射強度の制限を得た。
3. Crabパルサーの2GHz、8GHz帯データ処理を実施し、巨大電波パルスのリスト作成とfalse GRP rateの推定、精密DM値の決定を行った。また、台湾BURSTT計画への日本からの貢献としてCrabパルサーの小笠原・飯舘同時観測を行い、巨大電波パルスのリストを作成した。
4. パルサー・FRB観測の日本のアクティビティを高めるため、簡易手段によるパルサー観測の実現を目指し、2.1m立方サイズの3次元コーナリフレクタアンテナとSDRによる観測システムの試作を行った。
5. 中性子星磁気圏でのプラズマ加速を検証するため、磁力線が閉じる領域と開く領域の境界の物理解明に向けた数値セットアップを構築した。

Reason

飯舘電波望遠鏡は復旧し、臼田電波望遠鏡で2周波帯域で両偏波の同時観測は機能を確認でき、また観測データの高速処理のためのGPU導入準備もほぼ終えるなど、いくつかの課題はまだあるものの予定していた観測体制は整って観測を進めている状況は進展である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

引き続き電波、可視光、X線でCrab pulsar, FRBの観測を行う。特に電波観測による新たな発見に対する他の波長でのフォローアップ観測を拡充させていく予定である。また、臼田望遠鏡に取り付けた周波数変換器に問題があったため、現在対応を進めて解決次第観測を行う。同時にGPU PCを用いたオンサイトでの出現特性の短時間解析系の構築を行う。プラズマ粒子シミュレーションではプラズマの加速効率についてまとめ、FRBとの関連の解明を目指す。
