Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、研究代表者らが先駆的研究を展開している10 kW級高温超伝導誘導同期モータを対象として、高温超伝導体が超伝導性を失う高温度(例えばマイナス183℃程度以上)においても低出力にて連続駆動可能な全高温超伝導化(固定子巻線ならびに回転子巻線の両者を高温超伝導化)技術を確立する。本研究によって、極めて高効率で既存モータに対して1桁を遥かに超える高出力密度を実現出来るだけでなく、冷却系が故障した際にもフェールセーフ運転可能な全高温超伝導モータに関する基盤技術を完成することができる。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have successfully demonstrated non-superconducting drive for a high-temperature superconductor (HTS) induction/synchronous rotating machine, in which Kyoto University is conducting pioneering research.
First, we successfully tested an output of 5.5 kW at room temperature using a prototype 50 kW-class machine (rotor squirrel-cage winding: HTS/normal conductor hybrid conductor, stator winding: copper wire). We also prototyped a 1 kW-class fully HTS machine (rotor squirrel-cage winding: HTS/normal conductor hybrid conductor, stator winding: FFDS conductor developed by Kyushu University) and successfully conducted a rotation test at 120 K. We also elucidated the starting mechanism of an HTS squirrel-cage rotor based on past experimental data, clarified the risks involved when inputting voltage to an HTS three-phase winding, and achieved results in the electromagnetic design of a 20 M-class machine for aircraft, etc.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究で対象とした高温超伝導誘導同期モータは、研究代表者が研究開発の先端を走っており、世界を先導している。応用研究開発に関しては、例えばNEDOプロとして企業と共に大容量液体水素サブマージポンプ用モータを開発しており、世界初の実用化間近の状況である。
上記状況の高温超伝導誘導同期モータについて、本研究では液体窒素冷却下における最高効率99%超の実験的証明、前人未踏の室温(非超伝導)軽負荷試験成功他の成果を上げており、学術的かつ実用的価値が極めて高い。さらには、未だ殆ど試験成功例が無い全超伝導機の液体窒素冷却下回転試験成功だけでなく、非超伝導駆動成功をも成し遂げた成果には大きな意義がある。
