Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、(1) フィラー界面の存在が硬化過程における不均一性に及ぼす影響、(2) 不均一性の時空間スケールが変形させた際の応力分布に及ぼす影響、(3) 応力分布が巨視的な靭性・破壊挙動に及ぼす影響を明らかにし、塑性力学が精密に制御された熱硬化性コンポジットの設計原・指針を創出することを目的とした。そのアプローチとして、量子ドットをプローブとしたナノ物性マッピング解析に基づく様々な時空間スケールにおける不均一性の可視化、および変形時における応力分布の可視化を提案した。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The effects of the chemical structure and functionality of the epoxy base, as well as the curing temperature, on the epoxy-amine curing reaction were examined. The results revealed that the formation of the network structure proceeds spatially in a heterogeneous manner. In particular, pre-curing at higher temperatures led to a heterogeneous network structure, which significantly affected the macroscopic mechanical properties and fracture behavior. Additionally, epoxy products prepared with varying epoxy-to-amine molar ratios were studied as model systems for filler interfaces. Under amine-rich conditions, it was found that, in addition to cross-linked networks, dangling chains and isolated chains were also present.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

熱硬化性樹脂の多くは、室温で分子鎖の熱運動が凍結されたガラス状態であるため、「硬くて脆い」ことが本質的な欠点として知られている。その性質を向上させるため、フィラーとの複合化によるアプローチが試みられている。しかしながら、熱硬化性コンポジットの靭性は硬化条件に強く依存するため、フィラーの効果が十分に発揮されているとは言い難い。安全性や信頼性の確保・向上に向けて、靭性の付与や破壊挙動の制御が強く求められているが、それには至ってないのが現状である。本研究で得られた不均一性に関する科学的知見は、力学物性や破壊挙動の制御や寿命予測に資するものと期待される。
