Outline of Research at the Start

物質の構造を鏡写しにした場合、元の構造と同一でない特徴をキラリティという。キラリティの掌性に応じて物質や生体は特異な作用を示すので、構造の持つ重要な特徴として考えられている。本研究では、ナノスケールでのキラル光学効果を観測することによるキラル分子やナノ構造物の構造解析手法を開発することを目的としている。キラル光学効果をナノスケールで観測するための新たな観測手法として、光誘起力顕微鏡を用いる。光誘起力顕微鏡は、探針と試料に光を照射して互いに生じる双極子間力を検出する顕微鏡で、数nmの空間分解能を超えて光学観測が可能である。本研究の成果は、物質科学や生体研究などに幅広く応用されることが期待される。
