Outline of Research at the Start

陸上植物にとって、気孔は光合成のガス交換や養分の吸収・循環のための水分蒸散に必要な器官である。植物は環境変化に応じて気孔開度を調節する仕組みを持っており、その分子機構の解明は、植物の生存戦略の理解やその応用に不可欠である。
本研究では、活性酸素種生成を伴って気孔閉口を導くアブシシン酸、ジャスモン酸、サリチル酸の信号伝達経路において、①活性カルボニル種が共通の信号伝達因子として機能しているか否か、②活性カルボニル種の生成機構、③活性カルボニル種がグルタチオン抱合によって負に制御される仕組みを明らかにすることで、様々な環境刺激を統合して気孔開度を最適化する孔辺細胞信号伝達機構の完全解明を目指す。
