Outline of Research at the Start

農耕地への有機物施用は作物生産を支える土壌機能の維持に不可欠であるが、土壌中の微生物の働きにより強力な温室効果ガス「一酸化二窒素（N2O）」の排出量増加の原因にもなっている。一方で、有機物資材の物理化学性の活用や調整によって施用後のN2O排出の削減が見込めることが分かってきた。そこで本研究は「なぜ施用有機物の化学性や物理性によってN2O排出量が異なるのか」という問に対し、施用有機物の窒素フローと微生物の代謝活動の観点から答えを追究し、有機物施用後の低N2O排出を達成する有機物資材の物理化学性の特徴と鍵になる微生物経路を明らかにする。
