Outline of Research at the Start

脳には神経細胞と神経細胞を支えるグリア細胞が存在する。グリア細胞のうちアストロサイトは、神経細胞に栄養を送り不要物を排除するなど
、正常な脳機能に重要な役割を果たしている。損傷などの障害に反応してアストロサイトは活性化し、炎症性細胞の浸潤抑制など神経保護的役
割を果たす一方、軸索再生抑制や神経細胞死の誘導など障害的形質を呈する。本研究では、多様なアストロサイトがどのようにして誘導される
か、その制御機構を明らかにし、創薬標的としてのアストロサイトの可能性を探索する。
