| Outline of Research at the Start |

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Human parvovirus B19 (B19V) DNA was detected in the serum of pediatric patients at the onset of fulminant myocarditis (FM), and its presence was found to correlate with both outbreaks of erythema infectiosum and more severe clinical manifestations. In the present study, we conducted a combined retrospective and prospective analysis, collecting peripheral blood and myocardial tissue specimens, along with comprehensive clinical data, from patients under the age of 15 diagnosed with acute myocarditis. We compared the clinical characteristics, treatment modalities, and the presence of B19V (in both blood and myocardial tissue) between patients whose cardiac function recovered and those in whom recovery was not achieved. Our findings suggest that, in cases of B19V-associated myocarditis, host factors may exert a greater influence on disease pathogenesis than the viral infection itself.
