Outline of Research at the Start

糖尿病の合併症は，大血管や微小血管において早期から高頻度に特有の血管の障害が認められ，これらの血管の障害が合併症の主な原因となっている. また，組織内の終末糖化産物生成を増大させ，組織へのマクロファージの細胞浸潤に特徴づけられる慢性炎症を生じることが報告されている.
マクロファージは糖尿病合併症の炎症の始まりからその進展や，臓器の機能の変化に関与している可能性が高いことから，このマクロファージの制御によって糖尿病合併症の予防の方法を開発・検証することを目的とした.
