Outline of Research at the Start

本研究提案では(1)様々なオンライン意思決定問題,様々な指標に対して性能保証をもったオンライン予測基盤技術を確立,(2)通信工学を中心とした様々な実応用へのオンライン予測理論および本研究の適用を行う.オンライン意思決定問題群を1つ1つ検討していくという探索的・発見的アプローチにより,新しい問題群を定式化・理論的性能解析を行い,より適用範囲の広いオンライン理論を構築する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1.決定ダイアグラムを構成する新たなブースティング手法を開発した.提案手法は既存手法と同じ理論保証を持ちつつ,弱学習アルゴリズムの呼び出し回数を大幅に削減することに成功している.提案手法は2値ニューラルネットを等価な論理回路に変換する際に有用である.特に,提案手法はニューラルネット内の各線形しきい値素子を決定ダイアグラムに変換する際に用いる事が出来,その後回路にさらに変換可能である.手書き数字認識ニューラルネットに対して,既存手法よりもより簡潔な回路を構成すると同時に,ニューラルネットの頑健性の検証タスクにおいて,高速化をもたらした.
2.整数係数の線型不等式群を決定ダイアグラムで表現した上で等価な線型不等式群(拡張定式化)に変換する手法を開発した.提案手法は与えられた線型不等式群が”冗長”な場合により簡潔な不等式群に変換できる.したがって,元の問題に対して最適化問題ソルバーを適用するよりも,提案手法で得られた拡張定式化に対してソルバーを適用する場合により高速に解けることが期待できる.実際,変数サイズと比較して,大規模な制約を持つ数理最適化問題,例えば大規模データ上のソフトマージン最適化問題,に対して有効であることを示した.
3.通信工学上の問題群に対するバンディット手法の応用研究,複数サーバにおけるオンラインスケジューリング問題に対するアルゴリズム開発と理論解析,回転不変なニューラルネットワークの開発,ブースティングに基づく回帰手法の研究を行った.

Reason

当初の研究計画における,多様なオンライン意思決定問題の Blackwell ゲームへの帰着手法の研究は,適切な問題をターゲットに現在検討を進めている.一方で,本研究課題の副産物として,
・決定ダイアグラム表現に基づく整数係数線型不等式群の拡張定式化と最適化への応用
・ブースティングに基づくNNの等価かつ簡潔な論理回路表現への変換と検証への応用
という意義のある結果が得られた.また,通信工学への応用研究も順調に進展している.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

多目的最適化の問題群に対して Blackwell ゲームへの有効な帰着手法を開発する.すでに候補となる問題に対して解析に取り組んでおり,なんらかの成果が期待できる.また,通信工学上のある問題をすでに理論的に定式化しており,現在オンライン版の定式化へと拡張し,アルゴリズム開発を進めている.
