| Outline of Research at the Start |
ワーケーションはコロナ流行以降、急速に注目されるようになったが、現在、各地で実践的に取り組まれている段階で、研究蓄積がほとんどない。本研究では、ワーケーションを行う企業・従業員と受入地域との双方向のラーニングが、新たな地域課題の解決手法、ローカルビジネスの創出等を通じて地域活性化に極めて大きな意義があることを実証し、同時にその手法を明らかにする。その際、①従来の企業・従業員中心から受入地域中心への新たな研究へのシフト、②研究フィールドで社会実装を伴うアクションリサーチ、③四国での共同研究による実証研究の蓄積を行うことが本研究の特色である。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to clarify, through action research, how mutual learning between companies/employees engaging in workations and the host regions can contribute to regional revitalization. This is achieved by developing new approaches to solving local issues and creating local businesses. Both regional challenges and their solutions are diverse,ranging from digital transformation (DX) for small and medium-sized enterprises, workstyle reform, promotion of carbon neutrality, creation of related populations, building external networks, and sustainable tourism, to parent-child workations. Various approaches to these issues were attempted through action research based on workation practices across the four prefectures of the Shikoku region. While the challenges were not completely resolved, we were able to gain valuable insights and initial breakthroughs toward their solutions.

研究成果の学術的意義や社会的意義は、①受入地域中心への新たな研究へのシフト、②アクションリサーチの実施、③四国での共同研究による実証研究の蓄積にある。①は、企業・従業員視点からの研究が従来中心であったのに対して、これまでほとんど研究されてこなかった受入地域に対して、双方向ラーニングという視点から焦点を当てた。②と③では、豊富な地域研究の実績を持つ四国４県の研究者が各研究フィールドで、研究者も１プレーヤーとして研究対象に関わるという、社会実装を伴うアクションリサーチを行うことにより、様々な地域課題解決方法についてワーケーションを通じて試行錯誤を繰り返しながら実証研究の蓄積を厚くした。
