本研究では、戦前から日本で独特な発展を遂げてきた技術哲学と、今世紀初めの「経験的転回」以降、現代的課題に対応するべく新たに展開されてきた技術哲学とを綜合的に研究する。海外との交流を通じて国際的な視点からの議論の再検討や隣接する学問分野との討論を通じて、技術哲学の現代的な発展の可能性を図り、その成果を国内外に情報発信する。
