Outline of Research at the Start

日本の寺社や博物館・美術館等に所蔵・寄託されている中国木彫仏像の調査研究を行う。中国木彫仏像の形状、構造、材質、表面仕上げなど研究に必要な基礎情報を集積する。調査データの分析を通して、中国木彫仏像の様式・技法や制作年代・制作地域を考察するとともに、中国仏教美術史における木彫仏像の位置づけや、日本所在という視点から浮き彫りになる中国仏像の伝播の意義など、東アジア仏教美術史の諸課題について体系的な研究を行う。
