Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、日本列島に土器が出現した縄文時代前半期（16-8 ka）の人類史を、火山噴火を含む古環境変動への地域的適応という観点から描き直すことである。東北北部は最古の無文土器によって知られるが、その土器や共伴する神子柴・長者久保石器群が次の段階へと繋がらないという文化的断絶が見られ、縄文時代早期まで不安定な文化変遷が想定されている。本研究はこのような地域的特性の背景として、更新世末から完新世初頭に頻発した十和田火山の噴火を措定し、発掘調査・資料整理に基づく考古編年の構築と、古環境変動・テフラクロノロジーの分析の2項目を通じて、他地域と対比可能な考古―地質編年を確立する。
