| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、中東の古代文明が地中海文明に置き換わっていく転換期を研究対象とする。エジプトでは、支配側の外来伝統が優勢になる一方で、被支配側の生産力の豊かさから、前身伝統が長く維持された特殊な経緯を有する。アレクサンドリアというメガシテイをとりまく知の空間を再構築するために、古典考古学で見過ごされてきた後背の湖沼地帯に目を向ける。これまでの学史では、自然学、哲学・倫理学、精密科学へと展開する理論知(テオーリア)と実践知(プラクシース)の双方が、主に技術史と思想史のみから捉えられてきたが、分析対象のコーム・アル=ディバーゥ遺跡を考古学的な手法で紐解くことで、生活実践知を実証的に把握する。
