Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This project aims to deliver an integrated air transport system model to bring quantitative insights into how sustainable aviation can emerge while meeting the industry’s net zero targets in 2050. This research was conducted together with Cranfield University in the UK. The main research question is how to enable green air travel through the use of effective instruments and demand control. Here, a new system approach is to investigate the market-based mechanism and the cost of CO2 by considering possible greener travel behaviour changes and the risk of carbon leakage. A series of impactful research and dissemination activities was successfully completed such as (1) a carbon calculator, (2) the research about WTP for sustainable aviation fuel (3) workshops, and presentation at the international conferences.
