Outline of Research at the Start

大気ブロッキングは、中高緯度における異常気象の主要因となる極めて重要な大気現象である。また、ブロッキング発生期間中に、数値天気予報の予測精度が急低下することで特徴づけられる予測障壁がしばしば出現することはよく知られているが、予測障壁が出現する条件やそのメカニズムは不明である。このため本研究では、大気大循環モデル（AGCM）を用いて多数の初期値から予測を行うアンサンブル予報と、大気力学モデルを用いた線形安定性解析を組み合わせた解析手法を用いることにより、予測障壁の出現条件とメカニズムの解明や、不安定擾乱がブロッキングの時間発展に及ぼす影響や、その力学特性の解明を目指す。
