Outline of Research at the Start

地球科学的観測により巨大地震が発生するプレート境界の状態の理解が進みつつあるが、様々なアプローチで検証し、新たな知見を加えていくことが重要である。本研究では、地震波の解析を通じて、プレート境界における摩擦の状態を高い時空間分解能で推定するとともに、その状態変数が地震の発生前後で時空間的にどのように分布し変化しているのかを捉える。これにより、巨大地震を発生させるプレート境界の物理の理解を進める。
